At a recent wedding (to be blogged soon!), I had the pleasure of meeting Alyssa, a young teen who had the honor of being a bridesmaid.  All day long, I kept thinking to myself that I must get this young lady in front of the camera!   Finally during the reception, I caved in and asked her wonderful Mom if I could borrow her for 2 minutes.   There was this great barn on the property of Bellevue State Park and I snapped a couple quick shots…

Seriously?!  Is this girl a natural beauty or what?!  Alyssa, I hope we can get together again soon!

Dear Spring,

Oh how I love you.  That’s all.

life

March 29, 2010

I really have to cherish moments like these…

…because these days, it seems like it mostly looks like this…

And yes, the image in not in focus.  But that is okay, because many times I find that neither is life.  And I’m documenting life.  ;)

Here are a few more photos from our vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  I’ll post some personal ones shortly.

Can you believe the sky?!  Nice change from all of the snow we’ve had this winter!  This is the Wyndham Sea Watch Resort in Arcadian Shores (between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach).   Not 5 stars, but GREAT beach resort!  We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo up on the 16th floor of the North Tower (on the right) with an amazing view of the ocean and resort (see sunset photos below from our balcony).

If anyone is interested in this particular unit we stayed in, it’s Unit 1614 booked through Condolux Luxury Rentals.  Overall, great experiences.  We did have to put in a maintenance call for a couple of minor things, but they responded quickly and we were very happy overall!

A couple of photos of the early morning sunrise glow on Myrtle Beach this morning.  After a very rough 13 hour trip yesterday with a toddler with the stomach virus, it was so wonderful and peaceful to see this view from my bedroom!  Made it all worth it!

I’m so glad I talked myself into bringing the fisheye!

Vacation

March 11, 2010

I will be on vacation beginning now until March 20th with limited email access. I can’t wait to get some quality time in with my husband and little one and get some fresh air and change of scenery! Just praying for good weather. And if we luck out and there does happen to be internet access at our condo, I’ll try to post some photos. But I’m also sort of hoping that there isn’t access so I can disconnect for once. Have a great weekend and week!

Ahhhhhh….springtime. Oh how much I love you! I love snow, but this year was enough. Bring on Spring! And it’s always a good sign when the tulips start to pop out of the ground. McKenna and I were sick all last week. Then my laptop decides to crash, at the worst possible time given we leave this coming Friday for vacation for 8 days. But I actually was quietly excited about the timing of said laptop crash, because I couldn’t imagine being stuck indoors this past weekend. And neither could McKenna…

This super talented young lady needed headshots done for her auditions into a highly competitive theater conservatory last week, so I was happy to help her out!  Does she have amazing eyes or what?!

O – I’m routing for ya!

Last Thursday, I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity to meet Vusi Mahlasela while he visited campus at St. Andrew’s School, meeting with students and faculty and performing for the community.  Vusi is a South African singer-songwriter and poet-activist and I encourage you to all visit his website as well as to read the article that has been posted on St. Andrew’s website, because I truly cannot put it into words myself.   Just take my word for it.  After the concert, I made my way out to the lobby to buy a cd, but they were long sold out at that point and I had to go on the wait list for cds to be ordered.  I cannot wait until I get it!  I can see myself listening to it all day long.  The man’s voice was incredible and his words were inspiring.  A day later, people were still walking around campus smiling.   So check out the websites (you’ll see one of my photos on his website gallery!).
